Amber Dawkins faces several charges over the incident

A woman is facing several charges after another woman told deputies she was forced to strip naked at gunpoint and was beaten with a broom, according to an incident report from Spartanburg police. Amber Dawkins is charged with kidnapping, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, pointing and presenting a firearm, domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, assault and battery and malicious damage to property, according to the Spartanburg County Detention Center website. Police said they were called to Watkins Court on Wednesday about a disturbance with weapons. When they arrived, an officer spoke with the victim, who said Dawkins, her friend, invited her to come over to a home, the report said. The report said once the victim was inside, she said Dawkins pointed a gun at her head and demanded her to undress before “she blew her head off.” The victim told an officer Dawkins questioned her about having an affair with her boyfriend, according to the report. The victim said while she was naked, Dawson brought in three men to look at her. One of the men took the gun from Dawkins and went outside, the report said. The victim said at that time, Dawkins grabbed a broom and hit her with it multiple times, according to the report. Dawkins told the victim she had three seconds to get dressed and get out of the house, the report said. It said the victim got partially dressed, ran from the home and called police. The report said Dawkins told police she invited the woman to the home, and while there, she went through the victim’s phone. It said Dawkins told officers she found text messages between her boyfriend and the victim, indicating an affair. According to the report, Dawkins said she asked the victim about the text message, and the victim wanted to leave. It said Dawkins said she would not let the victim leave, and they began to fight. Dawkins admitted hitting the victim with a broom, according to the report. The report said the victim had a bruise on her arm, an open cut on her body and a long welt on her leg.
