Queen Rania is one of the world's most glamorous royals, looking exceptionally turned out at every occasion and her son's wedding today was no exception.

But, the royal chose a gown some might call unconventional for a wedding, opting for a chic black dress.

Rania wore a black and gold gown from Dior's AW22 Couture Collection. The gown had a high neck with gold embellishment and old embellishment on the cuffs.

She wore the dress with matching dangling gold earrings and a gold handbag.

Black has not traditionally been associated with weddings in many cultures, as it is often a funeral color. But, brides and wedding guests in more recent years have been throwing these sorts of conventions out for a more modern approach.

The color selection was true to form for Queen Rania, who often favors black or neutral tones. But, for a henna party for her soon-to-be daughter-in-law last week Rania wore a stunning light blue bespoke Saiid Koebsiy kaftan gown.

Rania's husband Abdullah II of Jordan wore a dark navy suit to his son's wedding. He added a simple white pocket square and a red and blue tie.

A number of British royals attended the event. Fans claimed Princess Beatrice looked the "best" she had ever looked in an ice blue gown.

She wore a £675 ice blue dress from Needle & Thread, accessorized with a black belt and a ribbon in her hair.

Kate Middleton wore a pink dress by Lebanese designer Elie Saab. The modest gown had a high neck and was decorated with lace.
