Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta – there was no shortage of full-blown designer glamour for Queen Rania of Jordan as she joined her husband, King Abdullah II, on an official visit to the US.
The king and queen were accompanied on the international tour by their dashing son, Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II, who will marry his glamorous fiancée later this year. The Jordanian royal family arrived in Washington D.C. following stops in Doha, Qatar, and Ottawa, Canada, where King Abdullah met Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

High on the agenda for the stop in America was, unsurprisingly, a meeting with President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill. Queen Rania of Jordan cut a typically elegant figure as she joined the first lady for a one-to-one meeting, choosing an Elie Saab wrap effect midi dress in a scene-stealing shade of cobalt blue which perfectly contrasted with Biden’s scarlet Brandon Maxwell number. Paying attention to her accessories, Rania added a Dolce & Gabbana handbag and a pair of heels from royal-approved label Gianvito Rossi (also a favourite of the Princess of Wales).
It was another sophisticated display for the first day of visit: Rania took a leaf out of Kate’s style bible and opted for a co-ordinated ensemble from Gabriela Hearst. The sumptuous cognac colour of the silk blouse and wide-leg trousers perfectly complemented the queen’s complexion and brunette locks.
The following day brought more business-ready chicness. Rania was snapped striding down the hallways of power in an open-back crepe de chine shirt from Fendi, a Miss Dior shoulder bag, and custom heels from Jennifer Chamandi.
The tour ended with a final fashionable flourish. Joining her husband for the 71st National Prayer Breakfast, Rania stepped out in a black jersey skirt by Feni, a dramatic blouse by Harithand, and a Bottega Veneta handbag.
It is set to be a busy year for the Jordanian king and queen. Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II and his fiancée, Rajwa Al Saif, who became engaged in August last year in the bride-to-be’s home of Saudi Arabia, will officially tie the knot on 1 June, 2023. The date holds sentimental value to the Crown Prince and his family as it is just days before the 30th wedding anniversary of his parents, who celebrate the milestone on 10 June.

Crown Prince Hussein, 28, heir to the throne, proposed to his girlfriend at the home of Rajwa's father, with the Crown Prince’s parents also in attendance. It came just weeks after his younger sister, Princess Iman, 26, announced her own impending nuptials to her Venezuelan venture capitalist beau, Jameel Alexander Thermiotis.
The date for the second wedding has not yet been announced but it is possible that it could also be this year. We already can’t wait to see what Rania will wear. Mothers-of-the-bride, take note.
