There are celebrations taking place in the Royal Hashemite Court, as the King and Queen's eldest daughter, Princess Iman bint Abdullah II, is set to tie the knot with her Venezuelan venture capitalist beau, Jameel Alexander Thermiotis.

Writing on Instagram, Queen Rania said: ‘Congratulations my dearest Iman; your smile has always been a gift of love that I’ve cherished since the day you were born. I wish you and Jameel a life filled with love and laughter!’

Meanwhile, the official announcement reads: ‘The Royal Hashemite Court is pleased to announce the engagement of Her Royal Highness Princess Iman bint Abdullah II to Mr. Jameel Alexander Thermiotis, on Tuesday, 5 July 2022, in the presence of Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah, as well as Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II, and Princess Salma bint Abdullah II, in addition to members of Mr. Thermiotis' family. The Royal Hashemite Court extends its sincere congratulations to Her Royal Highness Princess Iman and Mr. Thermiotis on this occasion and wishes them a lifetime of happiness.’

One of four children, Princess Iman is the first to walk down the aisle. She has one older brother, Crown Prince Hussein, 28, as well as a younger brother, Prince Hashem, 17, and younger sister, Princess Salma, 21. After growing up in Jordan, she went to university in Washington in the US. She has accompanied her mother on official royal engagements from a young age, including a trip to Japan when she was just 10.

The most recent Jordanian royal to tie the knot was Princess Raiyah, the half-sister of King Abdullah, and an aunt of Princess Iman. She wed British writer Ned Donovan, the grandson of Roald Dahl, after the first lockdown in 2020.
