Anne Hathaway's Trendy Micro Bangs Are Very 'Devil Wears Prada'

It's undeniable: Anne Hathaway is a fashion and beauty icon on and off the screen. She's been inspiring copycat outfits and bouncy blowouts since her Princess Diaries days (I mean ... who could forget that makeover montage?) and her red carpet style always stands out in a crowd. Still, there's arguably no Hathaway role more influential in the fashion world than her turn as Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada.

Whether you're a fan of the entire Patricia Field cinematic costume universe or just relish a good coat montage, the story of a fashion assistant and her cruel (but honestly, fabulous) boss still captures imaginations since its premiere almost 18 years later. And when Hathaway makes a reference (intentional or otherwise) to the iconic movie, it's hard not to fangirl.

Case in point? Hathaway's fashion-girl microbangs, which she showed off in a post to Instagram on Feb. 1, 2023, to shout out her film The Idea of You, which will be the closing film for this year's SXSW festival. Shared alongside a still from the film, in which Hathaway walks alongside her co-star wearing jeans, a tee, and a pair of sunnies, the actress wrote, "Co-produced by Gabrielle Union, Cathy Shulman, and myself (!), I really think it’s something special — I’m so glad SXSW agrees! #uncloseme."

While her haircut is a tad choppier and the fringe a touch shorter, Hathaway is a dead ringer for her Andy Sachs character — and right on trend if Zendaya and Florence Pugh have anything to say about it. The style is a departure from the soft curtain bangs she's been rocking as of late, and while she may or may not be wearing a wig in the film, it's a great reminder to bring in a photo reference of Hathaway for your next big chop.
