The 37-year old from Shenzhen, southern China stunned surgeons after they were forced to carry out an intensive amputation to save his life after he was crushed by a truck.

On the edge of death, Peng spent nearly two years in hospital, undergoing major re-constructive surgery to re-route nearly every major organ and system inside his body.

It took a team of more than 20 doctors to save his life, having to have numerous skin grafts from his head in order to close his torso.

Now fully-recovered, the miracle man is well on the way to building a new life and has opened his own cut-price supermarket called the Half Man-Half Price Store, according to the Austrian Times.

At 2ft 7ins tall, Peng gets around with two bionic legs and crutches, acting as a role model for other amputees across the world and giving numerous lectures on living with disability.

Bujie Hospital Vice President, Lin Liu said: "He is fitter than most men of his age. He is amazing and is the only person in the world to survive having so much of his body amputated.

" He had good care but his secret is his cheerfulness and positive attitude, nothing ever gets him down."
