Product description
Simple and functional, this authentic, handcrafted Moroccan cooking Tagine is ready to be used for your next flavorful and exotic Moroccan meal. The Tagine is to be use on the top of electrical or glass stove or inside the stove. If you have a gas stove with flames please use a protective metal piece to protect your Tagine from cracking. HOW TO CURE A TAGINE? It is necessary that it is seasoned before initial use. Please follow these simple instructions below for maximum results: 1. WATER: The new tagine needs to be first submerged in water for at least 1 hour. If you can’t submerge it, place it in a clean sink bowl and slowly fill the base of the tagine with water until it stops absorbing it. Place the tagine lid on top and fill it as well. Let stand for 30 minutes to allow full absorption of water into the clay. Empty excess water and set to dry for 5 minutes. 2. OLIVE OIL: All you need is 3 table spoons of olive oil, 2 for the base and one for the lid. Spread the olive oil throughout the base and lid with your hand. 3: HEAT: While the tagine is still wet with the oil applied to it, place it in the oven as shown in the first or second photos, and set temperature at 350 F and leave for 45 minutes. The evaporation of moisture creates a vacuum effect to pull the olive oil into the clay which glazes and seals it. Then leave the tagine cool down in the turned off oven.TAGINE MUST BE COOKED IN LOW TEMPERATURES AND A DIFFUSER IS RECOMMANDED TO AVOID BREAKAGE

As title states, I was sent a different pattern than the one pictured. I contacted seller to make aware; seller stated the pattern I ordered was out of stock so he sent another in place of it. I didn't want the hassle of re-packing and sending so I kept it. It arrived very well packed.
My suggestion is if you really want a specific design/pattern make sure you tell the seller not to substitute item and to contact you so you can decide if you want to wait for item to be in stock or choose another design/pattern. Otherwise I was pleased with this purchase.
Tagine may seem small to some. I'm able to cook 2 chicken thighs and 2 chicken legs with vegetables in this or a meal for 1-3 people depending on your appetite. I also serve couscous or rice with tagine meals thus making it able to feed 2-3. For 1 person you can be creative with the amounts. Also I don't use soap after I use the tagine. I use hot-warm water only and air dry. If seasoned properly food won't stick and clean up is fast & easy. The more I use it, the more I love it.
> The pot arrived with about 2 inches under the top that wasn’t glazed. With handmade goods, Stuff like this reminds me of my item being unique.
> The packaging was Great but a little over the Top..There was enough bubble wrap to properly secure a small car!
> The overall artwork appeared to be done by a kid but Again, it makes the Tagine unique. I wasn’t expecting a Rembrandt design.
> I seasoned the pot by; hand washing, adding a light coat of Olive oil all over, and baking it in the oven at 320 degrees for 2 hours.
> when cooking, I placed the Tagine directly on Gas burners at low (Simmering) temperature. This is ideal, slow and low.
Would I recommend this Tagine pot, Absolutely!
We did have an initial setback when our tagine cracked during its first use. We had properly cured it & used low heat with a diffuser. Although it came well padded in the mail, I think it got damaged during transport. We contacted "Treasures of Morocco" & got a replacement base right away.
Since then, we have cooked in it a dozen times with excellent results. The flavors just get enhanced. I will also give 5/5 stars to the sellers for excellent customer service. For best results with the initial curing, we recommend to fully soak the base & top in water overnight/24 hours, rub with olive oil & heat in the oven at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes.
