Queen Rania Al Abdullah joined Queen Letizia of Spain on a visit to employment workshops held by Patrimonio Nacional at the Royal Palace of Madrid. This visit was part of an official trip to Spain, led by King Abdullah II and Prince Hashem bin Abdullah.
Patrimonio Nacional is a historical-cultural institution responsible for preserving Spain's rich national heritage. They offer cultural, educational, and scientific activities, including training and accreditation opportunities through their School and Employment Workshops Program.
Their Majesties began the visit at a woodworks workshop, learning about the program's efforts to provide job opportunities and train students in historical-artistic trades. They also visited a bookbinding workshop, witnessing students and teachers copying manuscripts and restoring book covers and paintings. Lastly, they explored a saddlery workshop, focusing on the maintenance and restoration of saddles.
Patrimonio Nacional has trained over 5,000 students in various trades, including gardening, carpentry, stonework, upholstery, gilding, saddlery, artistic bookbinding, watchmaking, and historical tailoring.
With 24 buildings and over 160,000 historical-artistic pieces, including paintings, sculptures, tapestries, gold and silver items, archives, musical instruments, and furniture, Patrimonio Nacional is deeply committed to conservation efforts.
Additionally, they are responsible for preserving Spain's natural heritage, which comprises 22,000 hectares of historical gardens, forests, and other natural spaces, home to a diverse range of wild animals.

Despite the absence of the Spanish royal couple at the wedding of Crown Prince Al Hussein of Jordan and Princess Rajwa, the warm interaction between Queen Letizia and Queen Rania demonstrated the strong bond and camaraderie shared between them. Following this memorable encounter, the two queens proceeded to the Royal Palace of Madrid, where a lunch was hosted in honor of the Hashemite Royals. The event was also graced by the presence of their youngest son, Prince Hashem, symbolizing the enduring and harmonious diplomatic ties between the two nations.
