Why should adults have all the fun? Because in Abu Dhabi, children can now have fun, in a way that is specially curated for them, as Louvre Abu Dhabi’s Children’s Museum is set to reopen on June 18.

Titled Emotions! The New Art Adventure, the interactive exhibition will allow children to explore emotions through artwork and immersive experiences. By featuring various artworks and interactive stations, the exhibition aims to familiarise children with identifying feelings.

Combining the best of entertainment and education, the exhibition is going to run until May 2023 where children can get access to three floors of the Children’s Museum, with inculcating a variety of experiences to help them explore emotions by playing, listening, drawing, or acting. The museum also has a new outdoor area to relax and express their own emotions.

As the children enter the exhibition, they get to create a personal profile and get a wristband to collect points through activities and challenges. Through this engagement, they would be introduced to artworks from varying periods and geographical locations across a series of observation games, discovering the hidden details and stories behind each work.

Whether it is a particular face, a specific gesture, a dedicated colour or shape, the new Children’s Museum adventure offers children to explore the universal topic of emotions and the messages they carry in art. They will learn how emotions can be expressed through body language with the help of a touchless interactive game using movement recognition.

Talking about the brand-new exhibition Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, shared, “The arts have the capacity to open a child’s creative potential, allowing them to see themselves and the world differently. The emotional well-being of our children is just as important as their physical well-being, and this important exhibition uses art as a catalyst for young ones to healthily connect with and express their feelings.”

The entry to Louvre Abu Dhabi is free of charge for individuals aged 18 and under, however, adults need to purchase tickets to access all Louvre Abu Dhabi galleries and exhibitions.
