One of the strongest Dragon Ball characters Vegeta has managed to stay up with his rival/companion Goku’s growing Super Saiyan transformations throughout the series. But there is one transformation that Vegeta has never used in the Dragon Ball universe in his entire life.
This is the Super Saiyan 3 form. The Super Saiyan 3 transformation, easily identified by the user’s absence of brows and extraordinarily long hair, premiered its anime in Dragon Ball Z’s Buu Saga when Goku used it to face Majin Buu.
However, Vegeta has never used it. During the Buu saga, Goku could utilize it because of his intense training in Otherworld, but Vegeta was incapable of using it at the time. But now when the story has reached the Dragon Ball Super Saga Vegeta still chooses not to use the form.
Super Saiyan 3 Form Abilities And Strengths
Super Saiyan 3 is the third Super Saiyan transformation and the successor to the second. This form pulls every ounce of potential from the blood of a Saiyan. This form pushes the user’s secret strength to its maximum, but it has a fault in that it consumes a lot of energy.
The Super Saiyan 3 form increases the user’s strength by four times that of a Super Saiyan 2. Goku was the first to master the form, having done so after several years of intense training in the Other World. In a brief encounter against Majin Buu, Goku employs the Super Saiyan 3 transformation. Gotenks subsequently acquires this form due to Trunks and Goten’s fusion.
However, Vegeta has yet to use the form till now and still chooses not to use it. One theory suggests that his decision not to use the form helped him unlock a bigger and even more powerful form. The form is also his final form in the Dragon Ball series now and is called Ultra Ego.

Not Unlocking Super Saiyan 3 Was Good For Vegeta
Vegeta is strong enough to perform the transformation, hence it’s a mystery why he never tried. However, one of the theories explains the mystery. Goku and Gohan were the first to reach the previous two forms, Super Saiyan 1 and 2. Vegeta had to work a little harder to perfect them.
Considering Vegeta’s pride, it’s reasonable that he would not want to continue imitating Goku eternally. Vegeta aspired to forge his path, which led to the creation of Super Saiyan Blue Evolved. Such a strategy worked, as Vegeta was later able to build his own unique Ultra Ego form in the Dragon Ball Super manga.
Vegeta’s pride and his urge to make his path instead of following the footsteps of Goku helped him in the grand scheme of things and made it possible for him to develop his strongest transformation yet.
